7.0 Prologue
There is such a special place where it make one want to go back again and again, to see, to experience and to explore the place one more time. And that place is non other than Angkor, Cambodia. To a photographer or writer, there is just too much to see, experience, to shoot and to write. Even the paths that have been walked before can be experience anew with a different eye and from another angle. In Dec 2005, Vignettes Photographer Tommy Tze went back to Angkor for the third time to capture it with a bigger format camera, the Rolleicord medium format camera (TLR). In this issue, he show us scenes from off the beaten tracks, in black & white views of Angkor we didn’t know its there unless we steps out of the tourist trails and explore thoroughly.
Contemplative Corners tells of the pressure of exploring and enjoying the rich history of Angkor amid increasing crowd of tourists, and on finding some corners where one still able to contemplate on the beauty of Angkor heritage without competing with other tourists for leg room and camera view.
