5.0 Prologue

It’s hard to start something that has an ambitious vision but requires a lot of energy and time. It’s even harder to complete it on time and meet the standard of the vision. Yet the hardest part was to continue trying and laboring for that vision. This issue is a case in point and represents the kind of difficulty in carrying out the work to achieve my vision.

It has been many months since the last issue was published. But, after a painfully slow production process, issue 5 is finally out with a new improved issue layout. The new layout took some time to design and it borrows design from conventional magazine layout where few columns or articles can be featured, thus lending it a magazine feel, but minimalist and without ads.

All these work just to publish a few photos? Well, there certainly fewer photos in this and the last issue to see. We start with a small pool of contributors, therefore fewer good photos to begin with. But we’d recruited two new contributors for this issue and few more identified. And I’m sure there will be more in the future because there are really lots of talent out there with regard to photography and writing. And it is with such vision Vignettes is attempting to do – to search for new talents and encourage them to develop and publish their work here.

We have a list of work line up for future issues and are working hard to make sure they are published on time. There will be more photos and more stories to tell. Until then, I wish everyone a blessed Christmas and a happy new year.
